The Book
A while back, I found the most wonderful book while poking around in the Internet Archive: The Rose Lace Knitting Book, by M. Hargrave. (I could SWEAR that I saw a page on wikipedia about the RLKB, but I couldn't find it just when I looked for it, so maybe I was dreaming?)
Since I very much prefer working from charts, I decided to chart these patterns for myself, and as I'd gone to all that trouble, why not go to just a little more, and make these pretty designs available to everyone?
When I looked on Ravelry for designs by M. Hargrave, there were only three (as of the time I'm writing this - 29 more just came online!), and it seems that there is another RLKB out there with different patterns. If anyone has a scan of it, please please please share? I'll happily add to this site!
Just a head's up - some of these charts don't line up quite right. Or there's some weird veer I couldn't seem to get rid of. They're still pretty workable if you're comfortable reading your knitting and fudging an extra increase or decrease where needed. This site is still a WIP. I will update the charts as I figure out where they need to be fixed.
All swatches were knit on size 4 needles, using #10 crochet cotton. Some of these designs will block out a little differently if you are using wool (or something similarly bouncy). I used the same long-tail cast on and basic bind off for every swatch. (oof. next time, i go for stretchier cast-on/bind-offs. Or provisional, if the ends are destined to meet.)
You may not sell my charts. I don't make money on these, so neither should you. They are released freely for your use. Please use them! It is very ok to sell what you make from them! And share the link around! But don't sell the charts themselves.
(If you want to sell charts, you should make your own - I translated directly from the book into Stitch Fiddle to create mine. It's a fun way to spend a week or two, tbh!)
